Why Toastmasters?

Can you always say what you really mean? Are you afraid or anxious to speak in public? If you answered YES then you are in good company. The good news is that you can conquer your anxiety - and become the person you want to be.

Toastmasters will show you how to express your thoughts, ideas and opinions and develop your leadership potential through an enjoyable, yet thoroughly professional education program. The best way to learn is by doing, and that is how Toastmasters works. You'll start speaking, and just get better and better.

How can Elouera Help?

Our club meetings include table topics which allows members to practice "on the spot" speaking - the type of speaking often needed in a job interview, in business, at University or TAFE and in social conversations.

Prepared talks provide experience in presenting effective speeches that inform, inspire and entertain. Prepared speeches are based on projects in the Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Manual. You choose the topic for your speech and this manual guides you step-by-step through speech organisation and presentation - you learn by doing. If you need further guidance, you need only ask! One of our more experienced speakers will be happy to be your mentor.

Each meeting also includes an open evaluation by another member. This is a gentle way to learn and improve; you receive praise for what you are doing right and are learn the points you need to improve for your next speech. Evaluation also requires the audience to listen carefully, and everyone benefits from the process.
